17 Goals & European Green Deal
Goals
In 2015, 193 United Nations member states agreed to work together to build a better future for future generations on Earth. The result is 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to which every government, every company, every organization, but also every individual can personally contribute.
With the European Green Deal, the European Union is pursuing the goal of being the first continent to establish a climate-neutral society and economy by 2050. To achieve this, various ambitious milestones have been defined, such as how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent by 2030.
VON ARDENNE is committed to making a significant contribution to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and the EU's Green Deal. We focus on the promotion of renewable energies, the establishment of sustainable production sites, the observance of human rights and fair pay, and the promotion of environmental protection. With all our activities, we support the European Union's action plan to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
ENERGY
As part of our energy management certification, we assess the energy performance of our site operations, evaluate improvement measures and implement these as part of our roadmap to an energy-efficient campus. We have achieved initial success with the energy-efficient conversion of the VA Technology & Application Center. This measure enabled us to reduce energy consumption in the Technology Center by ~30%.
Important planned measures for improvement include the following:
- Implementation of building network - campus concept
- Optimization of cooling water & heat generation
- Conversion of lighting to LED
- Expansion of PV systems
- Compressed air optimization
